B-16 TorStar – Your Money. A good package from the Toronto Star about managing money.
B-17 Free Money! Unclaimed Balances. I love this website, every time I teach a math course one of the students finds money that some Aunt or Grand-Parent forgot about for more than 10 years! Search the Unclaimed Properties to see if one of your ancestors or friends, alive or not, has forgotten about some money! Maybe you forgot to cash a government check!! >> Heck, you could make a business doing this, telling folks about money they forgot! My family found $13,000 of my grandma’s many years ago that she had hidden away.
B -18 Using Technology! Let’s be realistic! There is an App for almost everything you can install on your phone! (of course there are hazards with that!) And of course many apps have flaws and errors. So being able to do calculations the ‘old’ way may still be important regardless! Download and try this Time Value Money (TVM) App:
-
- Google Play for Android Devices. EZ Financial Calculators. (This one is loaded on our class tablets!) Or find one you like for your device!
- IOS (Apple) App Store. The same TVM App as above but for Apple devices: EZ Financial Calculators.
- On-Line. Use the EZ Financial TVM Calculator On-Line
- Movie on how to use the TVM (Time Value of Money) App.
B-19 Compound Interest Calculator Excel Spreadsheet. Use an EXCEL spreadsheet to do a line by line display of compound interest! Use Google Sheets, or Excel On-Line, etc. Are you familiar with Spreadsheets? Spreadsheets manipulate numbers easily and readily.
