Announcements:

  • Compressed Fridays.  Friday classes are squeezed into the morning, every Friday  Math class 09:00-101:15, other class 10:30 – 12:00.  Good to book personal appointments for Friday PM.
  • Monday 13 Nov.  No classes on Monday!  Another Remembrance day (in lieu the Sat 11th one)!!  I will publish a blog on Monday to help guide you in any studies if necessary.

Today:  (falling behind!)

  • Warm up / Review.  Some optional questions, pg 3 on Assgt B-2.  Questions: E,F,M,and N
  • Quiz Debrief.  Yesterday’s Formative Quiz went well.  The quiz was  ‘Formative‘;  corrected in class to 100%.
  • Finish Up Assgt B-2 Compound Interest.  (Was Due 10 Nov, today)
  • Lesson:  Rule of 72.  Unit B Notes p. 9.
  • Advance Issue Assgt A-1 Problem Solve – Guess and Check (due< 15 Nov)
  • Read ahead in Unit B Notes about Loans. pp . 10- 13.  No class Monday, lots of chance to do some advance reading and reading ahead
    • Issue Loan Tables.

    • Advance Issue Assgt B-3 Loans.  I like to hand out stuff a couple days ahead in case students get stuck at home.  Mind you, when I was in school we had no handouts , no photocopiers, ….

Useful Resources
  • Decent Calculator.  Ensure you have a Decent Calculator.  Decent Calculator Link:  Decent Calculator.  A dollarama calculator is not sufficient.  Your phone is no better than a dollarama calculator either. There are a few class calculators that are to remain in class.
  • Times Tables.  Mathematics is brutal if the Times Tables (Multiplication Facts) are not completely memorized.  Here is a link to just a few Times Tables resources.  Nail them down soon, it should only take a few hours on a couple weekends.
  • Interest and Credit Workbook.  A workbook , tons of practice questions for those students wanting more individual practice.  Answers to Workbook.
  • Study Notes.  Below are Study Notes that were issued [ ‘ Cheat Sheets’] for the current course and for math back to Grade 8.  Very useful to study on the bus ride home, in a quiet place at home, having a bath, or just to research which skills you may need to tweak up, etc.
